Web Design Agency London
Our process starts with one of our web designers wireframing the layout of a new website from our agency on the South Bank or in Guildford. Once the website wireframes are approved, the designer creates the homepage design and then the remaining page designs.
Once the designs have been signed off, our web developers begin work building the new website. This usually takes several weeks or even months, as some web projects are extremely complex. Once the initial design work is complete, our Quality Assurance testers (who are also based in London) review the website across a range of browsers and devices. The web developers then resolve any bugs raised by the QA team before the completed project is handed over to the client. This meeting can take place in our offices in London, Guildford in Surrey, or on site at our client’s office.
What is website design London?
Web design is a term that can encompass a wide range of skills and disciplines focused on the creation, maintenance and optimisation of websites. If you are looking for website design London services, London is the home to a huge number of web design agencies of all shapes and sizes.
A web design agency can be an independent studio or can be owned by a larger agency group. The size of the team within a London web agency also varies from one or two specialists up to a studio comprised of entire teams dedicated to each individual digital discipline.
How many web design agencies are there in London?
Getting an exact number of agencies in London is difficult. Industry directory Clutch suggests there are approximately 1,200, whereas Linkedin currently lists more than 3,700 companies as relevant for “web design london”. Linkedin also lists approximately 7,800 companies as relevant for “web design uk”. Whilst these numbers are by no means precise, it is probably reasonable to say that just over 50% of the web design companies in the UK are based in London.
Web design London: Where are you most likely to find a web agency in London?
You can find a web agency almost anywhere in London, but there are significant clusters of them around the Southbank, Soho and East London. A web design company London can have a mix of in-house and remote workers and a lot of the more successful agencies also have a second office outside of London.
The main benefit to running a design agency in London is that it is easy to meet more clients face-to-face, either due to London being where many clients are based or London being a straightforward place to travel to and meet up. In many cases, a face-to-face meeting is still superior to using a video conference service for discussing nuanced and complex web design projects.
How much money does an agency in London make?
In total, the top 100 digital agencies generated £2.8bn in fee income over 2018 according to eConsultancy. Of these top 100 digital agencies, only a very small percentage of them do not have a London office.
The amount an individual web design agency can make varies depending on experience and client base. Just on that 100 top agencies list mentioned above, annual fee income ranges from £4m to £350m.
What exactly does a web agency do?
The type of services that are offered varies by company. Of the top 100 digital agencies surveyed by eConsultancy in 2018, 25% focus primarily on designing and building websites, 11% focus only on the technical aspects of digital services, 6% are purely creative agencies, and 58% are classified as full service/marketing.
Even in the case of full service agencies, their specialisms and offerings will vary. Sometimes it is better to engage with a web design agency that has a good track record in a single specialism than a studio that does a bit of everything to a mediocre standard.
Who uses an agency?
A wide range of industries engage in web design services, with the largest sectors generally being retail and financial services, followed by travel and leisure. If a company operates on the internet in any way, they can find benefit from hiring an agency team. At Plug & Play we have clients from a wide range of different sectors and we’ve presented a fraction of these as case studies across our site.
Web Design Surrey
Once a website has been handed over, our clients add their content. Sometimes content entry is undertaken by our Guildford web design agency. Once content has been entered, the Quality Assurance testers in our team review the website for any outstanding bugs. Our digital marketing agency team also undertake SEO optimisation work on the new website. Once this is complete, the project is complete and can go live.
Post-launch, the majority of our clients choose to move to a web retainer for ongoing website support. This enables them to continue to innovate their website.
As well as London, Surrey is a common area to find a web design agency and is a popular region to set up such a company. This is due to its proximity to London but also because of a large number of organisations that have offices and headquarters all over the county.
