September dates for your social media diary

Digital Marketing By Josanne Griffin-Mason, 2nd September 2014

When it comes to social media, it’s all about timing. Miss the mark and you risk your brand suffering the pitfalls of an outdated reputation, and nobody wants to deal with scathing comments and unfollows.

With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of the dates you need to put in your social media diary right now:

3rd September – Back to school

Children head back into their classrooms during the first week of September. If you have a school uniform business or sell stationary supplies, you’re laughing, but you can get creative with this even if you don’t.

Parents will now have a lot more time on their hands during school hours, giving you the perfect opportunity to grab their attention with an eye-catching Pintrest post or an ultra targeted Facebook advert.

12th-16th September – London Fashion Week

According to Hootsuite, February’s London Fashion Week event had exposure to an insane 35, 822, 3341 social networkers through mentions and shares – in just one day!

This September, a staggering 78%2 of attendees plan to tweet during the shows so make sure you join the conversation.

23rd September – Equinox

This is officially the end of summer and time to start pushing your autumn campaigns.

30th September – University teaching begins

It’s estimated that students spend a mighty £15 billion3 a year.

Be inventive and you could make a lasting impression here. In the past, Red Bull promoted three new drink flavours by sending sample cans to 17, 500 students who were deemed to be trend-setting early adopters to spark that all-important social media buzz.

Let us know how your September activities go and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to be notified when next month’s social media diary is published.
