Just over half of companies have ensured their website works on mobile devices

Not enough companies are ensuring their website runs well on mobile devices, as a new report reveals just over half have check to see if their site works on smartphones and tablet devices.

According to onrec.com, a new report from Catalogues 4 Business (C4B) has revealed that even some ecommerce companies aren’t aware of how important mobile optimisation is. Ian Simpson, managing director at C4B, called the figures “shocking” and explained that companies must be aware of how their customers are accessing their website.

Recent figures showed that payments made on tablet devices alone now make up 10.4 per cent of the total ecommerce market. In addition, the tablet ecommerce market has tripled in value this year to £4.74 billion.

It was also found that 39 per cent of UK companies haven’t designed a website that works on mobile devices, reports pcr-online.biz. Furthermore, seven per cent of businesses never bother to check their website’s traffic statistics and only half check site traffic every week.

Mr Simpson noted that checking site traffic is very important for businesses to keep their customers engaged. Such stats can inform companies of how, when and why their website is used, which is vital to know if businesses wish to grow their brand further.
