Smartr365, UX Interface Design | Plug and Play

Introduction

Mortgage brokerage Capricorn Financial had an internal CRM system that their staff used to manage clients. The system was highly functional but difficult to use, which meant that onboarding new members of the team was challenging.

Capricorn decided to invest in a new User Interface for their system and to justify the investment, would take the platform to market as it’s own product: Smartr365.

The Challenge

Smartr365 would be used by members of the public looking for a mortgage and mortgage advisors who needed to keep track of a number of different clients. This meant that the platform had to look slick and be intuitive to use. We analysed several competitor products, timing how long it took to complete a mortgage application and realised that for end users, speed and ease of use was vital.

UI Process

The existing solution

Smartr365 had their own internal backend development team. As part of the project, the Smartr 365 C#/.Net developers needed to rebuild large parts of their system so that it was an API. The Plug & Play front end developers worked extremely closely with the Smartr365 backend development team to define the API. Once the end points were defined, our Technical Project Manager coordinated our front end development team to integrate end points as the backend development team delivered them.

The Goal

Design and build a new User Interface for Smartr365 within a tight 4 month time frame.

The approach

Our Creative Director and Head of Development collaborated to produce wireframes of the entire application. Following several workshops and rounds of feedback from the Smartr365 team, the API could then be produced and high fidelity designs created.

Once the design phase of the project was complete, our front end development team used AngularJS 6 to create the front end.
